    Michael Henderson is a visiting instructor in the School of Design & Creative Technologies at the University of Texas in Austin. He also is the founder and managing director of Actionable Conversations, a global leadership, consensus building, and organizational development firm serving the University of Texas at Austin, US Department of State, and hundreds of other organizations.

    The University of Texas at Austin: Instructor and Visiting Scholar

    I teach in the School of Design & Creative Technologies at the University of Texas: ITD 150 Design from Global to Local (22050)

    Course Description: In Nigeria and Kenya, people, processes and tools have been created to think beyond the constrictive limitations that we have come to rely on in western cities. This course explores west and east African business practices as inspiration for a rapidly changing global ecosystem. In the wake of social and political unrest, we examine these practices in order to inform research and find solutions for businesses at the local level.

     

    Students working in groups will be assigned 1 of 5 minority-owned businesses that have struggled to maintain or grow in today’s unpredictable climate
